When iPhone 4S was launched, according to competitors, it was not believed to defeat (in benchmark tests) other smartphones on the market, as the A5 dual core processor at only 800 MHz and just 512 MB RAM seemed the humble in front of high-end technology equipped Android smartphones: 1.2-1.4 GHz dual core processors and at least 1 GB of RAM.
Benchmarks have shown, however, that iPhone 4S showed that a good operating system makes all the difference in terms of processing speed.
Apple phone beat in all tests Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone (the most powerful smartphone until October 4, 2011), the differences are huge – almost double. Here are some charts that show where iPhone 4S stands and where is the competition:
In addition, by using a processor that runs at a lower frequency and by using smaller amounts of memory, iPhone 4S manages to overcome competing smartphones including at the autonomy chapter.
The only more efficient device is the iPad 2 tablet, which has the same Apple A5 processor, but clocked at 1 GHz.
