How To Set up Gmail on Your iPhone – Easy Guide

Enabling IMAP – IMAP enables you to receive Gmail emails on your iPhone. The connection will allow you to check your email wherever you are. You can enable the IMAP function by login into your Gmail account with your phone’s browser, then, on the home page, click from the top right area the “Settings” button. On the “Settings” page, select the “Forwarding and POP / IMAP” button. Go down to the “IMAP Access” option on the page, and mark the “Enable IMAP” option and then save your changes.

Add an Mail Account – On the iPhone menu select the “Settings” option then locate and select the “Mail” option. Click on the “Add Account” and then select the “Other” option on the “Welcome to Mail” page. On the next page select the “Add Mail Account” and then fill up the “Name” field with your “Gmail User” and then type your Gmail address in the “Address” section. Place your Gmail password in the “Password” section and then fill the “Description” field with whatever you want. Save your settings by pressing the “Save” button.

Incoming and Outgoing Mail Settings:

Incoming Mail Server – Enter “imap.gmail.com” in the “Incoming Mail Server” section, in the “Host Name” field. Enter your Gmail address into the “User Name” field and then enter your Gmail password also. Save your settings by pressing the “Save” button.

Outgoing Mail Server – Enter “smtp.gmail.com” in the “Host Name” field section. Type your Gmail address in the “User Name” field,  enter your Gmail password in the “Password” field and then save your settings by pressing the “Save” button.

You successfully completed configuring your Gmail mail account on your iPhone. Now you can send and receive Gmail messages anywhere.
