Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich by its code name will be released during October or November this year.
Declaration belongs to Eric Schmidt, one of the directors of Google.
The Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is the first version of a unified Android type, consistent both with tablets and smartphones.
As advantages, the use of a unified operating system eliminates the need for separate versions of applications tailored for tablets and smartphones. Users have the warranty that can use their favorite mobile applications on their tablet pc, and software developers no longer need to make further efforts to create more versions of the same applications.
Android 4.0 promises expanded support for USB peripherals, a redesigned interface and support for numerous expandable widgets.
